Currently – September 2021

Happy September! Boy, this year is flying!! I hate saying good bye to summer, but, for a girl born and raised in Texas with no real seasons, I LOVE Fall in Michigan! The weather is perfection and I can never say no to a trip to a good apple orchard! Give me all the apple cider donuts, please!!!

I am linking up with Anne to share what I am currently:

Apparently, I never hit publish on this blog post, so I’m posting it today – only 3 weeks late. #oops

Beginning:  My 27th year of teaching! Holy cow! How can that be possible? For a little backstory…I did not get my degree in education. My undergrad degree is in Psychology. Since a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology won’t get you anywhere, my parents convinced me to get my teaching certificate and go to graduate school while teaching. I went through a few alternative certification classes over the summer and was hired in the fall. About two years later I went in to get my Master’s in School Psychology. In order to be a school psychologist, it was recommended to have three years experience in the classroom. I thought for sure I would be out of the classroom after those three years!! Ha ha! Here I am, 27 years later!! (PS: I never did finish the School Psychology program. I ended up switching to Clinical Psychology after about a year).

This is also the beginning of having two middle schoolers in the house! Yikes!! Everyone says from here it goes ridiculously fast.  I’m not a huge fan of the pre-teen/teenage years so far, but I’m not ready for my babies to grow up!

Ending: My easy dress-from-the-waist-up remote teaching wardrobe! Good bye comfy clothes 🙁  I’m not looking forward to wearing real pants!

Loving: This awesome weather change! Monday, the first day of school, was miserable! It was SO hot and the fans just weren’t working enough!  It is slowly getting better.  I can’t wait to be able to keep the windows open!

Picking: Through all my old digital lessons to plan for this year. Unfortunately, the kids are stuck in their chairs all day with limited movement. I hate that, but it’s what is currently required this year. I’m going to continue using Google Slides for my lessons. I am a new Promethean Board user so it’s nice and big and better than me walking around trying to show the pages in a book to all 23 students.

Posting: Twice a week on this blog! I’m trying to build more consistency to grow this little blog! Of course, back to school time is not really a great time to try to up my writing time – I’m barely getting school things done! But when this crazy time is done, I will focus on posting more regularly! I really enjoyed posting my Back-to-School menu plan. I’m all about the simple when it comes to back to school time! I hope to share more easy recipes with you soon!

Well, that’s it! That is what is happening “currently” in our neck of the woods! What are you looking forward to in September?

Talk to again ya soon!
