What’s Up Wednesday 11.25.20

Happy Wednesday! I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer today to share a little bit of what’s up in my little world lately!

WHAT WE ARE EATING:

Monday: Chicken Pesto and Cauliflower Bake

Tuesday: Spinach Mushroom Feta Quiche

Wednesday: YOYO (You’re On Your Own – Momma’s gettin’ her hair done!

Thursday: ALL the Thanksgiving goodness

Friday: Leftovers

Saturday: Turkey Pot Pie

Sunday: Not sure, but hopefully NOT turkey!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

DISNEY!! We spent Thanksgiving 2015 on Main Street! I miss Disney Magic and can’t wait to get back there!

Awww! They were so little!!!

Ugh! She trimmed her own bangs about two days before starting kindergarten!

WHAT I’M LOVING:

All things CHRISTMAS!! It is my favorite holiday and I love everything about it! I used to be a holiday purist and WOULD NOT even think about Christmas before Thanksgiving. The last few years, however, I have been decorating earlier and earlier. This year, I was excited to get my tree up….and then THIS happened:

Yup, a strand of lights went out! #ofcourseitdidits2020 I had a bin of lights and not one strand was right! I had some LED strands, but none that were the soft white. I decided to leave it since it fits right in to the craziness that is 2020, but I think I will give in and go buy another strand of lights.

Last year, I never did put any ornaments on the tree. Hubby flocked it with fake snow and we added the ribbon. I liked how organic it looked and just left it that way. This year, I added some picks and a few owl ornaments to try to get the same organic feel. I don’t care for it as much this year (insert sad face).

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We’ve pretty much been staying home. The girls had dance on Saturdays but our governor has now starting shutting things down again. Our dance school decided to shut down too. They do offer the classes online but the girls decided they weren’t happy with that so we are taking a little break! It’s only supposed to be for a few weeks but I have a feeling this may be the way Michigan is going for the remainder of the winter!

WHAT I’M DREADING:

I’m not really “dreading” anything, but I am anticipating a return to full shut down at some point in our area of the state.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

The never-ending project of organizing our basement! It’s the dumping spot of pretty much anything and everything. Once I feel I’m starting to make some progress, something else happens and I get overwhelmed again. Since that is where I am teaching from while we are fully remote, I really want it to be a nice, organized area. I still have a long way to go!

Speaking of teaching, I am also trying to get lesson plans done through December so my evenings are free to enjoy my family, our holiday traditions and all the Hallmark Christmas movies!!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

I don’t know if “excited” is the right word, but my 50th birthday is happening next week and that’s kind of a big deal!

WHAT I’M WATCHING:

Again, all the Hallmark Christmas movies!!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

Right now, just the silence! I’m the only one awake right now and I love this quiet time. It’s not often our house is quiet so I am enjoying it!

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Leggings and sweaters or hoodies. All.The.Time. Honestly, if I’m not wearing leggings, I’m still in pajama bottoms. That’s one plus about working from home! I’m dressed from the waist up and no one has to know!

Shirt I wore for class on Tuesday! See, you can’t even tell I was still wearing pajama bottoms!

Comfy hoodie and leggings – it gets cold in my basement!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

Adding lights (and probably ornaments) to my tree and getting ahead on lesson plans! Oh, and Christmas movies, of course!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

Definitely Christmas and all our traditions, but, honestly, I’m ready for a break from teaching. We are in a flow, for sure, but the behind-the-scenes planning and all the extras are tough! I do more planning and prepping than I did when we were face to face!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

I think that’s about it for now. Thanks for reading! I truly am thankful for all of you! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
