Let’s Look – Meal Planning

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

I am linking up with Shay and Erika today to share all about meal planning!

So I have been meal planning for many years and (most of the time) I enjoy it! I love trying new recipes and can spend hours on Pinterest searching through all the delicious looking pins! My process is pretty simple….

  1. First, I look through my planner to check for any activities that might be happening during the week.  Dance is starting back up and right now, I will be at the studio every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Luckily, the girls’ classes are all early – between 5:00 and 6:00. Shelby has volleyball workouts on Sundays from 6-7:15 and Ry wants to join the swim team, with practices from 7:15-8:45 four days a week. Whew! Already sounds exhausting!!
  2. I use a plain spiral notebook to plan for 5 to 6 meals and write down my grocery list.

    Pretty fancy, huh??

Now, I probably don’t need to plan 5 or 6 meals since we do eat leftovers some nights, and I always end up moving meals to the following week. I also like having enough that hubby and I have things to take for work lunches.

  3. I put in my order on the grocery store app and go pick up my groceries!

Every few months, I will try to plan a week that we are using up things in the freezer or pantry that never got used. You can read this post HERE to see my latest attempt. You can read this post HERE to see my super simple Back-to-School menu plan.

Here is our menu for this week:

So the meatloaf muffins and pesto chicken never got made when they were supposed to so I’m moving those to this week to use up those ingredients.  On Thursday, I have Parent Orientation so hubby gets his favorite…again! (Most of the ingredients were on sale and it’s a favorite, so, why not???) I’m actually really looking forward to the chicken pot pie! It screams “fall” to me for some reason so I’m going with it!!!

So there you have it, my easy peasy process for meal planning! Do you meal plan? What is your process? What are some of your favorite recipes?

See ya again soon!
