5 EasyAugust Goals

Ugh! Where is the summer going? We just came off the LONGEST. SCHOOL. YEAR. EVER.  Why does it seem like July just flew by???

Well, August is here and it’s time to set those goals and keep moving forward! Here are 5 easy goals I have set for myself to finish off the summer.

Teachers hanging on to summer like...being pulled away

GOAL #1 – BLOGGING

I really want to grow this blog! I’ve enjoyed sharing and connecting, but I have to work on being consistent! For this month, I will be working on finishing up some courses I purchased to help me get going. I will be setting up an email list, as well as learning how to create (or rather, improve) printables. I will also go through all the emails I have that I’ve signed up for based on growing a blog into a business.  For the month of August, my goal is to work on blogging for a minimum of two hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

GOAL #2 – SCHOOL

Goal number two is to finish professional development on topics that I am very interested in.  The two topics I will be focusing on are The Science of Reading and Whole Brain Teaching. I have joined several Facebook groups and have signed up for some virtual conferences to help with this. I’m following several teacher bloggers that have been sharing about these topics all summer. I’m very eager to learn more about these two topics and I even bought a brand new notebook to take lots of notes!

I didn't need another notebook yet here we are
I did not buy this notebook but it states my truth! I’m a sucker for cute notebooks.

GOAL #3 – SCHOOL

My third goal is also school related. All the teacher Instagramers are posting their back to school tips and tricks.  Even after 25 years in the classroom, I am always looking for ideas to make my life easier. One teacher (I wish I could remember who it was because I didn’t save it) stated that she likes to plan for six weeks in advance. Oh this is my goal this year! I’m usually one week ahead, but this year I’m going to make sure that I do even more! I’m going to take this month to plan and get those six weeks organized. I will start going up to the school soon. My plan is to get my classroom set up quickly and then beat everyone to the copy machines! By taking this time now (and every six weeks), it will make being able to leave school at contract time much easier! SOOOO looking forward to THAT!

GOAL #4 – HOME

One of the things I love to do (MUST do for my sanity, if I’m being honest) is make a menu plan for super easy meals that I can have prepped and ready to go with minimal effort for that first two weeks back.  Y’all, there is no tired like teacher tired during that first week of school! For the last few years I have planned a menu and prepped the meals so that all I have to do is pop it in the oven! It does take some effort up front but it is so worth it.  I also try to plan a meal that hubby can cook and some that will give us leftovers. I will also sneak in a night to eat out. My plan for the next week or so is to come up with a meal plan. The weekend before school starts, I will get everything prepped and ready to help save my sanity! I will definitely share with you what I come up with!

GOAL #5 – ME TIME!

August is a crazy month! There is so much to do to get ready for school (and we start early this year so I have one week less than I usually do) but I also want to enjoy the last bits of summer! I want to have days where I do absolutely nothing.  I’m hoping for at least one rainy day where I can stay in bed and read!! I still want to enjoy the pools and the beaches! The first month of school is a crazy ride for early elementary teachers and I need to relax before all that happens. I have a small list of things I would like to do for myself before school starts:Goals I have for 'me time'; pedicure, clothes shopping, a day in bed reading, relaxing on a beach

I’m keeping August pretty simple as far as goals are concerned. Now, to keep myself motivated throughout the month!!!

Do you have any August goals? What are some things you want to accomplish this month?
