Friday: Friday night salsa by All Out Danza and Pike District
Pike District Pop-Up Park, 5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda
Aug. 30, 6-9 p.m.
All Out Danza hosts monthly salsa dance lessons and social dancing during the summer at the Pike District. With free lessons, no registration required and food and beverage vendors on-site, there’s no reason not to give it a try. All experience levels are welcome.
Monday: The Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade
Olde Towne Plaza, 1 S. Summit Ave., Gaithersburg
Sept. 2, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department are putting on the 86th annual Labor Day parade. Come out to see marching bands, antique cars and more! The event is free with food for purchase, and parking is available at the Lakeforest Shopping Center transit station with complimentary shuttles available to take you to the parade.
Monday: The Kensington Labor Day Parade and Festival
Plyers Mill Road to Noyes Library, Kensington
Sept. 2, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This festival will include food, drinks, live music and vendors, and the parade will include dancers, fire trucks and more. Enjoy the long weekend with this family-friendly event.
The whole weekend: Paint the Town Labor Day Show & Sale
Kensington Town Hall, 3710 Mitchell St., Kensington
Aug. 30 – Sept. 2
From live art demos to art exhibitions, Kensington’s Paint the Town Labor Day Show offers a weekend full of talent. Attendance is free, and you can check out the schedule of events at the link above.

Labor Day weekend marks the end of pool season, so be sure to take advantage of one of the county’s seven public outdoor swimming pools this weekend.
And one event worth the trip: The National Symphony Orchestra’s annual Labor Day concert
West Lawn of the U.S. Capital, Washington, D.C.
Sept. 1, 8 p.m.
The National Symphony Orchestra will perform classics conducted by Enrico Lopez-Yañez, and D.C. native and special guest Christylez Bacon will beatbox and rap. The event is free and first come, first served. To get there, take the metro from MoCo to one of several stops, including L’Enfant Plaza, Archives or Smithsonian.
