Q: Why is humanitarian work so important to you? 

A: I believe in giving back because it enhances global well-being. From 2008 to 2019, I provided dental services to underserved Thai communities through Smiles on Wings. Recently, I’ve volunteered with Global Dental Relief, bringing humanitarian efforts to Jenkins, Ky. (2021-23) and Antigua, Guatemala (April 2024).

A: I’ve been practicing for more than 30 years, including 25 years as a former University of Maryland School of Dentistry faculty member. Dr. Lakhani has been in private practice in the D.C. and Bethesda area since 2006.  She is committed to the D.C. Metropolitan area as she works and lives in Bethesda and enjoys the diversity of the area.  Dr. Lakhani has a love for food and not only does she continue to try to refine her traditional Pakistani cuisine, but she also enjoys the Bethesda/D.C. restaurant scene.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking and hiking Rock Creek Park, traveling, and enjoying the many events Bethesda offers.  Dr. Lakhani loves working with her hands inside and out of the office and often takes painting and other art classes around town.
