Dr. Saba Lakhani was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia and followed her father and sister’s footsteps to the University of Maryland, College Park for her Bachelor’s Degree in Physiology and Neurobiology. After graduation she interned at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research where she did research on salivary glands. Dr. Lakhani then completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Howard University College of Dentistry and followed this with a General Practice Residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Lakhani has been in private practice in the D.C. and Bethesda area since 2006. She is committed to the D.C. Metropolitan area as she works and lives in Bethesda and enjoys the diversity of the area. Dr. Lakhani has a love for food and not only does she continue to try to refine her traditional Pakistani cuisine, but she also enjoys the Bethesda/D.C. restaurant scene. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking and hiking Rock Creek Park, traveling, and enjoying the many events Bethesda offers. Dr. Lakhani loves working with her hands inside and out of the office and often takes painting and other art classes around town.

Dr. Lakhani enjoys continuously learning about dental education, research and advances. She has completed a number of continuing education classes and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists, the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association and the Southern Maryland Dental Society.

Our office continues to adhere with the CDC guidelines set forth for COVID protocols, and goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of our patients. We use COVID pre-screenings, N-95 masks, face shields, air purifiers and we continue to fog rooms after each patient.

By sitting with her on the floor and introducing her to our tools in a playful way, we transformed her fear into enthusiasm. By the end of her visit, she was not only smiling but had also excitedly declared her ambition to become a “stuffed animal dentist.”
