A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Friday morning at the Rockville Metro station, according to police radio transmissions.

Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched to 250 Rockville Pike just after 9 a.m. for the report of a pedestrian struck. Police on the scene announced in a radio transmission that the person was dead upon arrival.

Red Line trains are operating every 12 minutes with single tracking between the Twinbrook and Shady Grove stations due to the incident, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Riders should expect delays in both directions.

Customers can use routes Q2, Ride On 55, and 66 for travel between the Shady Grove and Rockville stations. Ride On 46 can be used for travel between the Twinbrook and Rockville stations.
