The new 250-seat music and event venue being constructed at Pike & Rose in White Flint now has a name—AMP.
AMP will open for event rentals this fall and will begin scheduling live acts for early 2015, according to a joint announcement released by Federal Realty, the owners of the venue, and Strathmore, which will operate it.
550 Events, the catering division of Neighborhood Restaurant Group, will provide food and drink for the venue. Neighborhood Restaurant Group owns popular D.C. restaurants like Churchkey and Birch & Barley. The restaurant company is also planning a beer garden for Pike & Rose, which is scheduled to open in mid-2015.
AMP will become the central arts amenity for the Pike & Rose development, which includes apartment buildings, retail shops, a new movie theater and a variety of restaurants.
Strathmore will be responsible for hiring acts at AMP and is looking to offer “an eclectic mix of music” including folk, rock, indie, jazz, DJs and national touring acts. AMP features a 2,800 square-foot indoor space with floor to ceiling windows, a 1,100 square-foot pre-function space and multiple balconies.
Strathmore and Federal Realty are pitching the venue as a place with great acoustics, music and food.
“AMP will allow Strathmore to move into the next chapter of its growth by reaching out to a whole new audience with intimate artistic offerings in a more casual and accessible setting,” Eliot Pfanstiehl, Strathmore’s founder and CEO, said in a press statement. “Our partnership with a dynamic culinary tastemaker like Neighborhood Restaurant Group complements our vision of bringing a completely unique entertainment experience to an area that has said, loudly, that it is craving this type of venue.”
