Montgomery County police are searching for a man suspected in a strong-arm robbery June 25 at a Giant Food store in Bethesda.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., officers responded to the grocery store in the 7100 block of Arlington Road following a report of a robbery, according to a police news release.

“The suspect entered the store and attempted to return stolen merchandise to receive a cash refund,” but was unsuccessful, the release said. The suspect then allegedly punched an employee in the face and stole an undisclosed amount of money from a different employee before fleeing the scene.

Based on surveillance footage, police describe the suspect as a Black male with a beard who is between 30 and 40 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was “wearing a black baseball cap, a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts, black sneakers and a black backpack,” the release said.
